Technology is used to improve and advance the ways that businesses operate. It allows small business owners to stay competitive and provide their customers with quality products, excellent customer service and timely deliveries. Technology also helps to increase productivity and profitability for businesses.
Technology has strongly influenced the course of human history and the nature of human society. The great agricultural revolutions changed how people feed themselves; sanitation and preventive medicine improved health and mortality; bows and arrows, gunpowder and nuclear explosives have transformed warfare; writing and printing has altered the way people record and transmit information; microprocessors are altering the nature of communication and computation.
Many educational technologies are based on software. Students may use a software to create assignments in various subjects such as language arts, social studies and math. Using a software in the classroom enables students to collaborate and work together in different locations and times. However, incorporating it into the classroom can have its challenges. It’s important to teach children that technology can be a tool for good or bad, so they learn to use it responsibly.
The word technology derives from the Indo-European root tek, meaning “woven sticks.” It is a means of making something that would not exist otherwise. But it is not a mere means of accomplishing an end; it involves consciously deliberating about what that end should be. It differs from science, which focuses on necessity and universality, in that it is concerned with contingencies and specificity.
